The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.  Amen.

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.  Amen.

Church Covenant

Having experienced the love, acceptance,
and forgiveness of God our Father, and
having committed ourselves to Jesus Christ,
His Son, we covenant together as members of
this church that, through the guiding
presence and power of His Holy Spirit,

We will work together in Christian love.
We will show loving care for one another through prayer,
encouragement, counsel and assistance.
We will share one another's joys and endeavor to bear
one another's burdens and sorrows.

We will regularly involve ourselves in, worship, witness,
education, fellowship, Christian stewardship and service.

We will endeavor to bring up those under our care "in
the nurture and admonition of the Lord."

We will seek, by Christian example and personal effort,
to witness to others about Christ and to encourage
their growth toward Christian maturity through
church programs oriented to the various mission fields.

We will oppose all conduct, which compromises the
written word of God and will uphold high standards
of Christian morality.

We will be faithful stewards of our resources time,
talents, and abilities.

As a result of this covenant relationship, we will
seek earnestly to live to the glory of God who has
brought us out of darkness into His marvelous light;
and when we leave this fellowship, we will, as soon
as possible, unite with another church dedicated
to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ where we will
seek to express our Christian faith in fellowship and service.

The Baptist

Faith and Message

A Statement Adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention

On May 9, 1963, the Southern Baptist Convention adopted a revised summary of our faith. The committee's report says in part:

Baptists emphasize the soul's competency before God, freedom in religion, and the priesthood of the believer. However, this emphasis should not be interpreted to mean that there is an absence of certain definite doctrines that Baptists believe, cherish, and with which they have been and are now closely identified. It is the purpose of this statement of faith and message to set forth certain teachings, which we believe.

The complete text of the committee's report and the entire Baptist Faith and Message (as printed in the Baptist Sunday School Board Tract) can be found below.
